Designed as early as 1957, the AJ series of lamps has become a true design icon with its characteristic shade, which is cylindrical in the upper section and conical in the lower section. The Danish architect, author, journalist, critic and designer Arne Jacobsen developed AJ as part of his furnishing concept for the Copenhagen SAS Royal (Radisson) Hotel. Louis Poulsen, a lighting manufacturer active since 1874, has reissued the original table lamp in reduced size with AJ Mini.
The construction remains unchanged; from the oval, cut-out foot with switch a slim rod emerges, which carries the umbrella. This is painted white inside for efficient light control. Thanks to its swivel mounting, it can also be directed to the desired area.
